Scott E. Mitchell was destined to become the third generation of the renowned Mitchell family of Photographers, where today he still pursues his dreams and love of photography.
Scott, at the age of 15, teamed up with his father "Bill Mitchell" for his first photo assignment covering a Muhammad Ali press conference leading up to the Ali/Norton III fight at Yankee Stadium in September of 1976. Working under the artistic direction of Bill Mitchell, Scott has mastered the techniques of lighting, composition and the taking of candid images.
Today, Scott has taken his photography talents to a new level of an extremely natural, photojournalistic style, specializing in weddings, bar-bat mitzvahs, commercial, nature/animals & all kinds of event coverage. His location assignments have taken him around the country and world. Some of those destinations have been Maui, Amsterdam, Scotland, Bermuda, Montreal, Beverly Hills, Napa Valley, Laguna Beach, Napa Valley, Jackson Hole, Las Vegas, Charleston, Palm Beach, Scottsdale, New York City & elsewhere.
Andy Warhol, Jerry Seinfeld, Regis Philbin, Billy Idol, Christie Brinkley, Bruce Springsteen, Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Al Roker, Mike Tyson, Derek Jeter & the Bush Twins are just a small portion of celebrities in the arts, fashion, sports, politics and entertainment field that have been photographed by the lenses of Scott.
Scott's Father, Bill Mitchell, soon after returning home to NYC, after serving our country and the US Army in Korea, started his business "Bill Mitchell Photography" in 1955. Bill's big breakthrough into the industry was when he was selected as the official photographer of Palisades Amusement Park. There, he mastered the techniques of Public Relations photography, and photographed many top entertainment acts and celebrities such as Bobby Darren, Tony Bennett, Paul Anka, The Supremes, Clint Eastwood & others. After resigning his position at Palisades Amusement Park, Bill grew his business to one of NY/NJ's most prominent Advertising, P.R. & Corporate Photography studios, where the award winning photographer has been widely recognized for his large published body of work which has ranged from U.S. Presidents, Marilyn Monroe, Lady Byrd Johnson, The Beatles, Muhammad Ali, Brooke Shields, Sylvester Stallone, Joe DiMaggio, Joe Louis, and so much more. Now retired, his clients and friends still remember him for his witty sense of humor and for his unique talent at putting his subjects at ease.
Scott's Grandfather, Jay Florian Mitchell, a nationally recognized member of the prestigious American Pictorial Photographers, and peer to such artists as the famous Alfred Steinglitz, started his photography career in NYC but received national recognition and his historical reputation, for his body of work in Las Vegas where he filmed the opening of the Moulin Rouge, which has been referenced in the Las Vegas Assembly of The Ways & Means Assembly Committee. Jay's photography captured the amazing growth of Las Vegas and has been recently displayed and sold at the "100 Years of Las Vegas Images" at the Nevada State History Museum - March 2005.
